A.G Osun, delivers rewarding lecture on "Misdiagnosis and legal implications in an evolving environment" at the newly commissioned 750 seater college auditorium of LAUTECH
Governor Aregbesola eulogises the virtue of 'one of his own' Dr Ajibola Bashiru, the Attorney General, State of Osun as he delivers rewarding lecture ..."Misdiagnosis and legal implications in an evolving environment" at the newly commissioned 750 seater college auditorium of LAUTECH at Isale Osun, Osogbo on March 21st, 2018
At the jagged cliff of the collosus entrance to the Temple of Delphi built by Pheobus Apollo at Mount Parnassus in Greece in about 5 BC was this inscription "Man know thyself" This precept has admonished the mind of many great philosophers and it has been the pivot around which every human endeavor has been shrouded.
More often than not, knowledge of self in itself has often been pivotal to the role people often play in the struggle to excel and also to bring about insightful and impartful solution to people's welfare and security within the society. The role the medical scientists play in the society was put to test when the topical line of the lecture was about the misdiagnosis and misapplication of expertise which may attract legal implication within the same society
SRJ, not minding whose ox is gored by the first lecture in the auditorium initiated himself to the hall of fame of about 3 Grecian philosophers when he demonstrated indepth knowledge in the field of Philosophy, Medicine, History and Law. Like at first appraisal, the Grecian Oracle Phoebus Apollo, Hippocrates, Herodotus and Aregbesola.
Hippocrates, the father of medicine was born around 460 BC on the island of Kos in Greece.
He became known as the founder of medicine and was regarded as the greatest physician of his time.
He based his medical practice on observations and on the study of the human body. He held the belief that illness had a physical and a rational explanation. He rejected the views of his time that considered illness to be caused by superstitions and by possession of evil spirits and disfavour of the gods. While SRJ was also on the same page with Hippocrates and while questioning the rationale behind misdiagnosis in medical parlance, he said "he often ponder about the demise of his father 16 years ago if it might have been caused by this mistake ". By his research He might have seen the reason why Hippocrates developed an Oath of Medical Ethics for physicians to follow. This Oath is taken by physicians today as they begin their medical practice. By this Oath one might wonder why Medical practitioner still misdiagnose. He therefore posited that "My people perish for lack of knowledge"
Unearthing legality to guide the activities of practitioners should have vindicated Hippocrates in his grave when he proponded the theory then that practising medicine by medical practioners should be by swearing on oath before they start to practise medicine. No one who listened to highly cerebral Dr. Bashiru Ajibola's lecture in this area at the auditorium would question the virtuosity of a Legal luminary, Doctor of law and Attorney General of the State of Osun. Before the Governor came, he had demonstrated beyond measure that Lecturing was so easy as people who cared to listen would not have missed a single line from his rendition which validates the fact that SRJ could be the "Generation Next" which the pendulum might tilt to when considering Osun future Governor.
Apart from the marathon research ingesting legality into the liability of medical practitioners to work legally within the ambit of the law which has propelled this serious discourse within the atmosphere of the academic ambience and environment; imbibing this ethos is the safest thing to do. All things being equal or "Ceteris Paribus" The rendition and expatiation of the salient point by the lecturer, SRJ held the 750 capacity auditorum which comprised mainly of Students, Politcians and members of the grassroots society spell bound to tow the line of protocol and decorum in all their attention to their welfare and endeavour as a way of life. The quality of Lecture people heard at the auditorium would have drawn spy from the political opponent of the APC to savour the quality and greatness of opposition they will be facing in the nearest future at the poll.
What keen observer could also deduce from his Lecture aside from being a learned personality, SRJ also delved into an area popularised by Herodotus who was often referred to as "The Father of History", who was born within the time Apollo reigned in Greece, he was the first historian known to have broken from Homeric tradition to treat historical subjects as a method of investigation—specifically, by collecting his materials systematically and critically, and then arranging them into a historiographic narrative. Speaking with courage and innate boldness, he beautifies the power of interaction and interpersonal communication skills to the delight of the crowd which is the hallmark of his boss, Rauf Aregbesola. When he came after the Welcome speech by Prof O A Olowe and Chairman's opening remarks by Prof. A S Gbadegesin, the Vice Chancellor then invited him to the podium as he summarized the lecture given by SRJ after eulogising his virtue that all field of endeavour and walk of lives should imbibe the ethics and ethos of Omoluabi in all their endeavour and quickly promulgated a Law thereafter that as from Monday 26 of March, 2018 application of substandard equipment will no longer be allowed in Medical profession and also in any profession in the State of Osun. By the end of the event when the Governor declared the place officially open, the VC also used the auspicious occasion to advertise the auditorium to the State Government and the public for use with a price which will continue to generate the much needed IGR for the Government. SRJ was later presented with one of the most prestigious awards of the institution by the Vice Chancellor. The most beautiful thing also about the event was that in the spirit of true federalism all the concerned anthem was sang from Nigeria lyrics, State of Osun, Oyo State, Lautech Anthem with the Student Union Anthem. It was an event which will be the talk of the town for a long time to come.
